My favorite teacher was Ms. Scott. She taught me typing. It was the first year of integration, and I had never had a black teacher. I remember thinking, how hard it must be for her to teach all of us white kids, but we were never white or black kids to ms.Scott.We were all her students, and she taught us the meaning of mutual respect. My best friend Janice Exum and I were constantly talking in class, and Ms. Scott would say Miss Varnadoe, you and miss Exum are here to type, not to talk, and then she would smile. She brought out the best in all of us, and I never forgot her. I was heartbroken when I heard she passed away. I always wanted to be able to tell her, what an impact she made on my life, by being a wonderful teacher, and an example of what a fine human being is supposed to be. I will never forget her, and I know she's in heaven, because she was an angel in the halls of Valdosta High School. I miss you ms. Scott. Your grateful student, Miss Varnadoe VHS Class Of 1970.
